Sacred Farewells: Honouring Life’s Unique Journey

As an Officiant with the Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU), I am honoured to create and lead funeral and memorial services that celebrate the life, character and unique journey of your loved one.

Every life is different, and I believe every farewell should be too.

While my own work is rooted in Spiritualism and its understanding of the eternal nature of the spirit, the service itself is shaped around your loved one, your family and your wishes. There is no need for a ceremony to follow a rigid formula or to express beliefs that do not feel right for you.

Together, we can create a deeply personal service that reflects your loved one’s personality, values, beliefs, passions and the legacy they leave behind. This may include Spiritualist elements, prayers or spiritual reflections where desired, or the ceremony can remain simple and non-religious in character. What matters most is that the farewell feels sincere, meaningful and true to the person whose life we are remembering.

How I Serve You

Personalised Ceremonies

Through compassionate conversation, I’ll take time to learn about your loved one: their life story, personality, passions, relationships, memorable moments and the things that made them uniquely themselves.

Together, we’ll shape a ceremony that reflects that individuality, incorporating music, poetry, readings, memories and personal tributes as appropriate.

Guided Planning

I’ll help you consider and structure each part of the ceremony, from the opening words and welcome through to tributes, readings, moments of reflection and the final farewell.

Where Spiritualist or spiritual elements are requested, these can be sensitively woven into the service while always respecting the beliefs and wishes of your loved one and those attending.

Compassionate Leadership

On the day of the service, I’ll officiate with warmth, dignity and reverence, gently guiding everyone through the ceremony and creating space for both grief and celebration.

My role is to help carry the responsibility of the service so that family and friends can be present with one another, remembering, reflecting and saying farewell.

Support

From our first conversation to the final farewell, I’ll be there to offer guidance and support. I can help with the structure of the ceremony, family participation, readings, music, tributes and the many personal touches that can make a service truly meaningful.

A Spiritualist Service, Personally Created

As an SNU Officiant, I can conduct a service within the Spiritualist tradition, including its recognition of the continuing existence of the human spirit beyond physical death.

However, personalisation remains at the heart of every ceremony I conduct.

I recognise that families may hold different beliefs, or none at all. “My role is not to impose personal beliefs, but to conduct the service with compassion and respect, honouring your loved one while remaining true to the Spiritualist principles within which I serve.

Whether you would like a Spiritualist funeral, a service with gentle spiritual elements, or a largely spiritual celebration of life, we can create something together that feels authentic and appropriate.
